Who We Are

Mission: To enhance the quality of life through the preservation and maintenance of park lands, the provision of quality leisure time activities, and the provision of special facilities which would otherwise not be available to Lansing residents.

The Lansing Parks and Recreation Department manages 116 parks, maintain over 16 miles of river trail, and operate four community centers, ensuring accessible recreational opportunities for all.

What We Do

Our department offers a wide array of programs and services catering to all age groups. We organize youth and adult sports leagues, after-school programs, camps, and enrichment activities. Additionally, we oversee the Turner-Dodge House, a historic mansion, and provide facilities such as two swimming pools and numerous events throughout the year. Our commitment to inclusive recreation ensures that people of all abilities can participate in our general programs, fostering a vibrant and engaged community.
