Who We Are
Mission: To educate people about the natural environment.
It is our vision to expand outdoor recreational, historical, and citizen science opportunities to individuals living in and around the Greater Lansing Area — especially those with limited experience in or exposure to natural spaces. Woldumar Nature Center is a 178 acre natural area located a stone’s throw from downtown Lansing.
The Woldumar property and facilities were a gift to the community from Gladys Olds Anderson, daughter of automotive pioneer R.E. Olds, making Woldumar a testimony to the Lansing automotive industry. The support for environmental education and preservation by the Olds family is a legacy that continues to this day. In 1980, the historic log cabin boyhood home of Lansing Architect Darius Moon was moved to Woldumar, furthering our connection to Lansing’s roots.
What We Do
Woldumar provides nationally recognized environmental education programs for area youth and adults, and also serves as a community venue for stewardship, performances, festivals, and events. We maintain 5 miles of trails along the Grand River for walk-in recreational use.
