Mission: To improve the quality of life for individuals affected with asthma and allergic diseases by promoting awareness through education and training.
The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America – Michigan Chapter, (AAFA-MI) has been a trusted source for information, education and training since 1984.
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization who is part of a National group that was founded in 1953. We recognize that asthma and allergic disorders can be devastating health problems that affects over 76 million American’s. That’s more than diabetes, heart disease, cancer, stroke, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s COMBINED!
Despite these gloomy statistics, we believe through reliable education, training and community support, proper management can happen and quality of life will improve. Further, we provide an important vehicle through which individuals organize and work together to improve our community.We’re here to help those affected by asthma and allergies to …live a life without limits!
What We Do
The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America provides the following resources and services to the Michigan area.
- Asthma & Allergy Essentials for Child Care Providers
- Asthma Basics & Control for Families
- Asthma Management & Education: a CNE program for Allied Health Staff
- Annual Asthma & Allergy Conference: for clinicians held in March or May
- Power Breathing: for young teens
- Health Fairs & Community Events Workshops for the Public or Workplace
- Free Asthma & Allergy educational materials
- Free one-on-one discussions with a certified asthma educator
