Who We Are
Male Mentoring Program Transforming Boys to Men —A program designed to provide African American males an opportunity to explore the daily challenges that they encounter as they work to achieve success in school and plan for their future success.
What We Do
The Turning Point of Lansing is a program mentoring young men in grades 7 through 12 who attend any of the tri-county area schools. Program participants must commit to attending monthly meetings.
The program is based on the 7 Principles of Kwanzaa and include:
- Umoja—Unity
- Kujichagulia—Self Determination
- Ujima—Collective Work and Responsibility
- Ujamaa—Cooperative Economics
- Nia—Purpose
- Kuumba—Creativity
- Imani—Faith
The Turning Point of Lansing transforms boys to men by providing an Afrocentric, group mentoring experience that gives young African American males an opportunity to explore life’s challenges all while developing strategies for success in their lives, school, and communities.
