Who We Are

Mission: To improve the environment and quality of life for people with disabilities.

Disability Network Capital Area (DNCAP) formerly the Capital Area Center for Independent Living (CACIL) has served the Greater Lansing area since 1976. Founded by individuals with disabilities, we believe that a disability is a part of the human experience and not a negative reflection on the individual.  DNCAP’s service area is Clinton, Eaton, Ingham and Shiawassee counties and is part of a statewide network of Centers for Independent Living in Michigan.  Services are provided in house and at community locations such as schools.

What We Do

DNCAP provides a range of services including information on community resources, assistance with benefit applications, job readiness training, peer support to Veterans, and assistive technology demonstrations.  Through the generous support of CAUW, DNCAP offers interpersonal and skill building groups which are both pre-vocational and vocational by design.  One of the shining stars is CACIL Creates; a multi skill level art program facilitated by a teaching artist. Costs range from no charge to fee for service. Please contact agency for additional information.
