Grit, Glam, and Guts is rooted in its core values of Courage, Leadership, Authenticity, Self-Determination, and Solidarity (CLASS). Through these values, we work to improve the personal, social, academic, and career development of girls throughout Michigan. Our programming has four pathways rooted our vision, mission, and core values.
In-school and Community-based chapters Through weekly sessions, students are immersed in a curriculum that addresses self-awareness, self-identity, and student voice through journaling; literacy, media, and art projects; in-depth discussions; and participatory community-building activities. Each chapter is also required to produce a teen-led project rooted in GGG’s core values.
Residential Summer Camp in partnership with the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities at Michigan State University, ten to twelve girls participate in a weeklong overnight program on MSU’s campus where youth take classes focused on civic engagement, artistic expression, empowerment, and character building led by MSU faculty, staff, and affiliates.
Citywide Teen Conference - Up to 150 girls from schools across Mid-Michigan come together for a day of empowerment, inspiration, and sisterhood. Girls engage in in-depth discussions, interactive workshops, and artistic expression activities.
Black Girl Day of Play - a day to curate joy for black women and girls through the arts with a goal of promoting health and wellness among thousands Black women and girls
