South Lansing Ministries

Mission: To feed the hungry, creating opportunity, and building community

South Lansing Ministries is a community service non-profit on S. Waverly. We began with “only” our food and personal needs pantries in Faith United Methodist Church. When the church closed its doors, the congregation made sure that SLM would be able to continue serving the most vulnerable people in our community for years to come. Since then we’ve grown, adding the computer and internet program, community garden, and two new in-school programs.

SLM’s vision is to empower people and end poverty. We aim to do that by meeting people’s basic needs through our food and personal needs pantries and community garden AND by empowering people through our free computer and internet program, free books for kids program, and our two in-school programs, Breakfast with Books, and Community Builders.
