Elder Law of Michigan, Inc. (ELM), a 501(c)(3), is a nonprofit charitable organization that promotes and protects the rights, health, and economic well-being of older adults and people with disabilities by providing information, advocacy, and professional services.
What We Do
Our services include:
- Legal Services: They provide free legal assistance to seniors on issues such as wills, powers of attorney, and guardianships. They also help older adults navigate healthcare directives and long-term care planning.
- Michigan Pension Rights Project: This project assists individuals with pension-related issues, helping retirees and their families recover benefits they are entitled to.
- Benefits Counseling: Elder Law of Michigan offers guidance on public benefits, including Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, ensuring that seniors can access the benefits they need.
- Elder Abuse Prevention: The organization works to raise awareness of elder abuse and provides legal advice and assistance to those who may be victims of exploitation or abuse.
- Advocacy and Education: Elder Law of Michigan offers training and outreach programs to educate the community on elder law issues, including financial literacy and protection from fraud.
