Opportunities From: United Way of South Central Michigan

We are seeking an individual interested in exercise programs to assist with the coordination of our annual Hawk Island Triathlon.  Volunteer hours are flexible.  Duties include assisting with promotions, marketing, social media, donation requests, equipment preparation, etc.  Much of the work will be planning details in the office prior to the day of the event. 

This opportunity would be weekly schedule in the office, can be flexible with day hours and if desired evening hours to volunteer.  We expect the position to be approximately 10 - 15 hours per week commitment until the day after the events (June 3, 2019). Would want this volunteer to be available for the two day event, June 1 & June 2, 2019.

South Lansing Urban Gardens is a program of South Lansing Community Development Association.  Our gardens are an educational tool and a donation based growing opportunity for South Lansing.  The produce we grow is donated to local non-profit food pantries, community kitchens, and individuals in South Lansing.

A variety of duties are required for a successful growing season.  We are searching for individuals who want to assist with seed starting in our greenhouse, seedling transplants in our hoop, greenhouse, and outside garden space.  We want people who want to help maintain the soil in the garden with composting, weeding, and watering schedules.  Harvesting and distribution will be a weekly opportunity. Developing new growing areas to incorporate native plants and pollinators in our garden(s).  We hope to expand our gardening efforts to support other community gardens in our area.

You do not have to be an experienced gardener, just a love of the outdoors and a willingness to take directions.
