This is an opportunity specifically for those under the age of 18!  

Our Teen Accountability Program helps youth who are charged with a first-time offense or a school code of conduct violation gain a valuable understanding and help to repair harm. As part of the process, Peer Jurors listen to TAP Hearings and help to determine the next steps. 

The Peer Juror is a position available for youth in grades 8 through 12. Hearings happen approximately twice a month on Fridays beginning at 9 am and typically running through the early afternoon. Training is included in that timeframe.

We are in search of someone to assist with childcare during on-site meetings with parents.

Do you love to garden? Have you always wanted to make an impact on a youth’s life through gardening? We are looking for someone to work with youth at our Jackson House Runaway and Homeless Youth Shelter and build life skills through gardening. The mentor will be matched with a small group of interested youth.

For this position, we will need:

This includes forms that will allow us to run an ICHAT background check, National and Michigan Sex Offenders List Check, and a Child Protective Services History Check.

Additionally, we are asking that you complete the mentorship orientation prior to starting.

We are asking that a Gardening Mentor commit to at least twice a week meetings with the youth throughout the entirety of the gardening season.  

Have you always wanted to make an impact on a youth's life? We are looking for individuals to do one-on-one mentorship for youth in our various service areas. 

In order to be slated for a match, potential mentors will need to complete the following:

We are asking that mentors plan to spend 4 hours per month and to make a 12 month committment to being a mentor, along with cultivating a supportive and appropriate relationship with the mentee. Additionally, this mentorship position asks that you check in weekly with a supervising staff member.

Every year, Child and Family Charities facilitates nearly 100 moves across five different housing programs and our in-kind donation program. That’s a lot of bags, boxes, and pieces of furniture to help move, and we need your help! By signing up to be a volunteer mover, we’ll put you on a list to alert you when we will need assistance with a move, be it a client or a donation.  

General Timeframe 

In general, the moves will be during business hours.

Because of the occasionally sensitive information, movers will also be required to go through a confidentiality training prior to their first move.

Our community is so generous, we need regular help keeping our storage closet neat and ready to accept donations! We are looking for small but mighty teams of no more than 6 people to come in and help us organize the closet. Right now, we are looking for assistance in late January to early February, with additional opportunities quarterly. Our schedule is flexible, and we can work with what works for you.

Do you love to get out and garden? This opportunity is for you! We are in need of a volunteer gardener to come out to one of our four locations to help us keep plants watered and the weeds away. Scheduling is flexible to fit your life.

We need help at our main agency, Non-Profit Hub, and Jackson House (all at the corner of Greenlawn and Washington), and Angel House (in Mason). 

All volunteers will need to go through CFC's background checks. Once you click "respond", Quinn will reach out and send you the documents you need.

Our family visit rooms are booked and busy! We need help keeping them cleaned and helping our child welfare staff with flipping them between visits. While the schedule for this is flexible, we are mostly looking for assistance on weekdays in the AM.

Requirements

This position requires the following:

Every month, our Family Growth and Resource Center assists 400 families. We need assistance with managing and inventorying gifts of goods, organizing our storage area, stocking the Resource Center, and assisting Resource Center clients as needed. 

Essential Tasks

Assisting with stocking the Resource Center and keep it neat as needed 

Assisting clients from the Resource Center 

Assisting with classes and workshops at FGRC as needed 

Helping elsewhere as needed.
