Who We Are
Mission: To enrich lives through excellence in music and in educational outreach.
Formed in 1929, Lansing Symphony Orchestra (LSO) is widely recognized as one of mid-Michigan’s cultural gems. Now in its 91st season, the LSO continues to strive to reach audiences on a personal level, letting the power of live music do the talking.
What We Do
Here’s an overview of its our activities:
- Concerts: The LSO presents a variety of concerts throughout the year, including classical performances, chamber music, and pops concerts. Their performances feature a wide range of musical styles, from traditional symphonic works to contemporary compositions.
- Education and Outreach: The LSO is committed to educational outreach, offering programs that introduce students and the broader community to orchestral music. This includes in-school programs, young people’s concerts, and opportunities for student musicians to perform with the orchestra.
- Special Events: The orchestra also hosts special events such as guest artist performances, holiday concerts, and collaborative events with other arts organizations in the region.
- Community Engagement: LSO plays a significant role in Lansing’s cultural life, contributing to the local arts scene and fostering a love for classical music through accessible, high-quality performances.
